There are a large number of qualified teachers and reputed institutes doing appreciable work of guiding students in their pursuit of academic excellence. Then a natural question arises as to why a student chooses one Institute over another or one Teacher over another.
In this age of Digital revolution , Information is readily available on internet , Tv , News papers and the usual sources friends, Family , teachers etc. So a student Moving to XI class in CBSE schools is constantly receiving inputs regarding choice of Stream , School and Institute for preparation of entrance examinations. This creates a lot of confusion an stress in the mind of students as well as their parents. My advice for any student at this stage is as follows:
- Choice of stream should never be a prestige issue. All streams have enormous scope for excellence.
- I recommend every student to study mathematics, regardless of the stream. Mathematics equips us with basic tools necessary for future career. I can’t think of any field in which mathematics is not usefu. Level of indulgence in the subject may be adjusted according to one’s stream.
- Evaluate your own ability and aptitude in consultation with your school teachers as well as any other teachers who have been guiding you all along. They have excellent judgement of your potential.
- Don’t be in a hurry to committ to any particular Institute , howsoever great may be its Reputation.
- Success comes through effort mainly by a student . All teachers put in best of their efforts, so choose any place where you feel comfortable.
- Every student has a particular speed at which they learn. Identify your own strengths and weaknesses and trust your intution. If it doesn’t feel right in the depth of your heart then it is probably not right.
- Avoid pressure of joining any institute on the basis of Marketing Gimmicks. Parents will probably understand better , what I am trying to say.
I hope it helps and I would welcome if you seek any clarification regarding my views. My views are based upon my interaction with my students till date and they are continuously updated.
